What Families Are Saying

Our family had a wonderful experience with the B’nai Mitzvah Campaign. Eric was extremely patient and understanding with our daughter. He helped build her confidence, shape her D’var Torah, and taught her prayers. He also was patient with us parents :) Our daughter is a neurodivergent and agnostic child who at times could be difficult to work with, but Eric found ways to connect with her, validate her thoughts and feelings, and make the ceremony personalized and meaningful. All guests were incredibly impressed and moved by the ceremony.

The B’nai Mitzvah Campaign has been an incredible gift to our family! Eric and his team helped to spark the joy of Jewish learning in our two children. He expertly helped our daughters prepare for their Bat Mitzvah ceremonies, providing encouragement and thoughtful guidance along the way. As a mixed-faith family, we had an unconventional background and approach to planning our kids’ instruction and subsequent Mitzvahs. Without judgment, Eric embraced our ideas, and his input and positivity made the process - and the ceremony - extremely joyous, meaningful, and memorable. Eric is also a gifted musician, and the beautiful songs he sang made the service extra-special!

I am a Jewish educator - and I already knew David as a teacher before he began tutoring our son for his Bar Mitzvah. So, in some ways, I both had high expectations and also knew what to expect. B’nai Mitzvah Campaign did NOT disappoint. My interactions with you as an org and David as a tutor were always so professional. The tutoring was thoughtful and well-executed. Best of all, Jackson LOVED working with his tutor and he got so much out of the experience. In his D’var Torah, Jackson talked about how, at first, he didn’t even want to have a Bar Mitzvah and resented the work. But he came to enjoy the tutoring so much that it had a positive impact on his Jewish identity. We really credit BMC (and especially David) for this positive experience. As a parent and as an educator, I only have great things to say about BMC. Thank you!

Our experience with the B’nai Mitzvah Campaign was very important to our family. As non-synagogue members but proud Jews, we weren’t sure whether/how we would be able to help our daughter prepare for a Bat Mitzvah. Add the complexities of COVID to the mix and it’s highly unlikely that we would have figured out a way to make it happen. BMC made it possible and comfortable for our daughter to learn how to read Hebrew, prepare for her Bat Mitzvah, and have the experience of reading Torah. By the time of her actual Bat Mitzvah, she was prepared, confident and did a fantastic job.

As an unaffiliated Jewish family, we did not have the traditional road map to the Bar Mitzvah. BMC allayed any uncertainty and enabled an exciting conversation between teacher, student and family that engaged deeply with our Judaism. Eric has been deeply connected throughout the process by sharing his enthusiasm for the B’nai Mitzvah process and leading our son Ocean to a monumental Bar Mitzvah celebration. The cumulative ceremony took place as a covid safe outdoor gathering and Eric took great care to make sure protocols were followed and the event was a celebratory affirmation of judaism. Eric allowed our son to lead the studies and empowered him to find himself in the process. We are deeply grateful to the B’nai Mitzvah team for creating a meaningfully spirited experience.

B’nai Mitzvah Campaign allowed our son to explore a nontraditional take on the service that still had a deep connection to Jewish history and culture. The tutor was patient and dedicated and they made planning our own service as easy as possible. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

Everything was organized and executed perfectly. Tutoring was friendly and patient. All of our requests were met. We appreciated the help we received in selecting our appropriate torah portion. Highly recommend the B’nai Mitzvah Campaign.

BMC was a perfect fit for both of our sons. Eric is gentle, welcoming and non-judgemental. He was able to seamlessly guide the ceremony so that our diverse family and friends all felt engaged and heard. At the same time, he was able to guide our son in his D’var Torah to go to a level of depth that was extraordinary. We worked with the same tutor for both boys and she was perfect.

I don’t know about other children but I think our son was a tough nut to crack. He was raised an atheist, and so our expectation and desire that he would be Bar Mitzvah challenged some of his expectations of relevancy and logic. I feel that Eric managed this situation expertly, he never got deterred by our child’s intransigence and he got him to accomplish a fairly traditional ceremony without feeling like a fraud or a hypocrite. Bravo, Eric.

It was such a joy to have Yehudah come into our home each week with his calm and lovely disposition and effortless way of teaching. Yehudah worked with my older son, Eli, and was so wonderful that we never hesitated to have him in our lives again 3 years later for Julian’s recent Bar Mitzvah. Although my boys have very different personalities, Yehudah worked wonderfully with both and found ways to bond with each. It is hard to believe that Julian’s Bar Mitzvah was 8 months ago and we miss our weekly appointments! Many, many thanks to Yehudah for making the Bar Mitzvah preparation process so seamless and enjoyable.

Yehudah did a truly masterful job in training our 12 year old daughter to chant Hebrew for her Bat Mitzvah in September 2011. He is fantastic at teaching, deeply knowledgeable and precise with his Hebrew, always on time, always charming and delightful, loved by our daughter and by our whole family. Beyond all this, he was helpful and soothing during the stressful period leading up to the big day. He is an excellent person and excellent teacher. It is hard to imagine that anyone could do a better job.

WE LOVED GABRIELLE. She was fantastic. Could not have asked for a better experience. We loved our ceremony. It was very personal to us. It’s exactly what we wanted and our guests felt that it was a very different and interesting experience.

When we first met Yehudah it was at a friend’s bar mitzvah. He was standing by the young man’s side that he had taught. What impressed us was the confidence, poise and enjoyment they both showed and shared throughout the ceremony. Yehudah’s smile is genuine and indicative of his approach to sharing the experience of learning to read from the torah. Ezra always looked forward to the lessons. The process took time and there were distractions of a demanding school year. Always gracious and thoughtful, Yehudah never lost sight of the goal and kept us on track throughout the process. His mix of classes, on-line study options and a few Skype sessions at the end was fantastic. We are all so thankful to have shared our son’s important life passage with Yehudah. We look forward to going through it again with our daughter in a few years.
